All three University of Illinois System universities again ranked high among public institutions and universities nationwide in the 2022-23 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) ranked 13th among public national universities and 41st among national universities, both steps up from the last round of rankings. Gies College of Business ranked No. 7 in public undergraduate business programs. Grainger College of Engineering ranked seventh among national universities for undergraduate engineering programs, with its Department of Computer Science ranking fifth in undergraduate computer science programs.

University of Illinois Chicago
The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) climbed four spots to No. 42 among public national universities. In a broader measure, UIC landed among the top 100 national universities by jumping six spots to tie for 97th. UIC also gained 10 spots to be rank ninth in the nation in undergraduate nursing. University of Illinois Springfield
For the fourth year in a row, the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) ranked as the top public regional university in Illinois. It bumped up a spot to be the third best public university in the Midwest regional category. UIS also ranked as the sixth best college for veterans in the Midwest Region.
